Purchase Of New Vehicles Eyed To Monitor “no Parking” Violations

02 December 2021 Crime News

The General Traffic Department intends to purchase vehicles designated to monitor vehicles that commit “no parking” violations, reports Al- Rai daily. According to security sources, the department had used cars equipped with cameras according to the latest technologies about two years ago. They were tested to monitor vehicles that are parked in prohibited places, and obstruct traffic in front of government agency centers, commercial complexes and markets.

That experiment was regarded as a great success, thus prompting a move towards contracting to purchase those vehicles that will contribute to accurate monitoring of the violating vehicles. These cars monitor and photograph the violating vehicles using a video recording system with pictures. The cameras are unloaded by traffic operations teams to download the records of violations and then citations are issued against the drivers of the violating vehicles. This avoids the need for traffic officers to manually issue citations.
