Projects Underway As Govt Cuts Challenges Faced By It
The number of challenges facing the implementation of projects has been estimated by official institutions to be about 13, reports Annahar daily. They were previously estimated to be 441 challenges, including 164 administrative challenges, 80 financial challenges, 116 technical challenges, 72 monitoring challenges, and 9 challenges for legislative reasons.
322 challenges were overcome representing 73 percent of the total challenges. The sources said that the number of strategic projects amounted to 21 with funds worth 3.7 billion dinars, of which 2.9 percent were spent by the end of the first quarter of the year and six strategic projects in representing pillars of a varied and sustainable economy in addition to six projects in the infrastructure and four projects of quality health care and four projects in the foundation of a sustainable living environment and one project in the foundation of creative human capital.

According to the quarterly report of the followup to the annual development plan 2018/2019 comes within the framework of the commitment to Article 10 of Law No. 7 concerning development planning, which states that the relevant minister must submit quarterly follow-up reports to the National Assembly after submission of the same to the Supreme Council for Planning and Development and adoption of the Council Ministers. The sources added, the General Secretariat of Planning is keen to build an integrated follow-up system for all development projects with special importance to follow up the strategic projects and prepare periodic reports that refl ect the performance of these projects through the automated system adopted to follow up the projects of the plan.
It also monitors the execution of all draft laws and their amendments in accordance with the legislative program of the medium-term development plan and taking corrective measures to ensure the proper implementation of projects.
Sources pointed out that the current quarterly report monitors the three months of the annual development plan 2018/2019, the fourth year of the mediumterm development plan (2015/2016-2019/2020) and affirmed the role of the secretariat in developing the methodology of preparing annual plans to cope with future changes and challenges. Sources said the strategic framework for development plans has been updated in line with the goals of sustainable development beyond 2015, which ultimately achieves the vision of Kuwait 2035.
