02 February 2020 Filipinos

In the midst of angry protests and hostile statements issued by officials in the Philippines against Kuwait, a 50,000-dinar surgery was performed on a Filipino resident suffering from rare facial cancer, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The delicate operation ensured the successful removal of facial tumor. The patient’s sister, who identified herself as only Regina, thanked Kuwait for the successful operation on her brother, saying he was unable to travel to the Philippines because of the poor financial condition and the high cost of the operation so they decided not to leave Kuwait which provided treatment without charge.

Kuwaiti surgeon Dr Mohammad Al-Khalaf said that the operation is very complicated and difficult and took 15 hours, pointing out only a few doctors who can be counted on fingertips can perform such surgeries. Surgeon Dr Talal Dashti said Kuwait does not differentiate between citizens and residents in providing medical care, noting that he treats all patients as his family, a value that he has gained from his parents and his family by not distinguishing between people
