Plans To Hire A Consultancy Firm

According to Al-Qabas daily, the Ministry of Works is in the process of choosing a consultant firm to complete integrated feasibility studies for the North Kabd sewage treatment plant project and related works, which is projected to treat 530 thousand cubic feet of wastewater per day.

According to reliable sources, the consultant will evaluate the project from an environmental, technical, and financial standpoint, as well as prepare tender documents and obtain necessary approvals in collaboration with the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority, with the goal of improving infrastructure services, meeting state needs, keeping up with urban development, treating sewage, and benefiting from treated water for agricultural and irrigation purposes.

According to the sources, the sewage treatment plant will have a capacity of at least one million cubic metres of water per day and will serve the residential areas and cities south of the Sixth Ring Road — Southern Khaitan, Abdullah Al Mubarak, and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh — as well as the new areas west of Abdullah Al Mubarak and south of Saad Al-Abdullah city.

Purification plants have six major goals.

1 – Improving and expanding sewage network efficiency

2 – Use as much purified water as possible

3 – Supplying purified water to meet rising demand

4 – Improving efficiency via collaboration with the private sector

5 – National cadres rehabilitation and training

6 – Marine and terrestrial environmental protection
