Photo-taking Without Permission Is Prohibited In Kuwait

It has been warned that taking photos or films of others without their permission is a crime. The Kuwaiti Anti-Cybercrime Department at the Ministry of Interior issued the warning.

Such an act could land an offender up to three years in prison or a fine of KWD 3,000, and in some cases both.

Those who intentionally abuse or defame others by photographing them without their consent and electronically distributing the photos or videos with the intention of attacking them face punishment and penalties.

Law No. 37 of 2014 provides that anyone intentionally offends and defames others by making use of a device, method of communication, or other means to take pictures or videos without his consent or knowledge, or utilizing these devices to extract images without his permission, or fabricating a picture contrary to public morals for other people, shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years. and a fine of no more than KWD 5000 and not less than KWD 500, or one of these two penalties.

According to the Ministry of Interior, filming a dead person at an accident site violates the dignity of people and the sanctity of the deceased. On the Third Ring Road, the MOI summoned a person who posted a video clip of a traffic accident on social media.
