Partial Curfew On The Cards From Feb 23 …7 Pm To 7 Am

Head of the Government Communication Center and the official spokesperson of the government of the State of Kuwait Tariq Al-Muzrim indicated the possibility of raising the ceiling of measures taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, affirming that no decision has yet been issued regarding partial or total curfew.

At the same time, he hinted that all options to confront the repercussions of the spread of the COVID-19 virus are on the table of the health authorities. In a press statement, Al-Muzrim called on everyone to adhere to the health requirements, stressing the need to stay away from rumors and rely only on information from the official sources.

In this regard, reliable sources hinted about an intention to impose partial curfew throughout the country from Tuesday, February 23 for a period of 21 days from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

They said, “The Ministry of Interior has addressed various institutions and agencies whose nature of work require them to be present during the hours of the curfew, asking them to provide the names of those wishing to be issued with permits, in order for it to take the necessary measures in this regard” At the same time, the sources hinted that it is possible to activate the permits that were issued earlier.

Also, they indicated the possibility of closing the Nuwaiseeb border crossing from the start of the curfew period, and to leave only Salmi border entry open, given the lack of sufficient medical personnel to carry out necessary medical test procedures and quarantine processes in both ports at the same time.

Meanwhile, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad affirmed an increase in the average occupancy rate of the COVID-19 wards. He revealed that it reached 16.3 percent yesterday, and that the average occupancy rate of the intensive care units reached 20.9 percent.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health yesterday announced that 979 new cases and eight deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of COVID- 19-related deaths to 1,027. In addition, the Ministry of Interior affirmed that it would strictly apply law No. 8/1969 on those who violate the decisions of the Council of Ministers and the health authorities to close all commercial activities from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, and to prevent gatherings and celebrations of national holidays in a bid to limit the spread of COVID-19 virus.
