Parliamentary Human Rights Committee Tackles Issues Tied To Bedouns
The parliamentary Human Rights Committee on Thursday discussed issues concerning Bedouns, such as security restrictions and forged passports, in the presence of representatives from the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR). During the meeting, the committee decided to establish a hotline between the agency and the committee to discuss complaints from Bedouns.
Committee Chairman MP Dr Adel Al-Damkhi disclosed the CSRSIR team promised to provide the committee with all data related to Bedouns. He affirmed the political leadership is keen on solving the problems of Bedouns, citing humanitarian solutions like granting health insurance card until the status of this category is modified.
;Talking about the Bedoun who tried to commit suicide by burning himself, Al-Damkhi said the committee will invite all concerned parties during the investigation as per the directive of the National Assembly. He added the CSRSIR told the committee that 90 percent of the files of Bedouns who are eligible for naturalization are ready.
