Parents Must Report Children Who Use Drugs
As part of the awareness campaign to stop drug addiction under the slogan "Weyak," the Ministry of Interior has urged parents to report the appropriate authorities about their drug-using children so that they can be treated, cared for, and rehabilitated without being held criminally responsible.
The Ministry of Interior noted that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant-General (Ret) Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas place a high priority on addressing this destructive scourge. The Ministry of Interior stated that the security agencies deal firmly in combating the scourge of drugs, whether by arresting smugglers and promoters of these toxins or through intensive awareness campaigns of their effects
The Ministry of Interior also stated that it is continuing its awareness campaigns for the administration of drug abuse prevention policy, and that on June 26, the International Day for Drug Control, the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior implemented the awareness-raising campaign in collaboration with state institutions and civil society organizations.
The campaign aims to spread information about the dangers of drugs and emphasis the role of the family and educational institutions (universities, colleges, institutes, and schools) in promoting the concepts of educational control to protect children and youth from this destructive scourge in order to reduce drug use among all segments of society.
According to the sources, the General Administration for Narcotics Regulate is working hard to control drug traffickers and has achieved significant progress in working with all security services to stifle the efforts of drug smugglers, traffickers, and consumers.
