Pai Laid Down Many Plans To Develop Process Of Recycling Solid And Liquid Industrial Waste Materials

16 September 2019 Kuwait

Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for State Services Khalid Al-Roudhan said the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has laid down many plans to develop the process of recycling solid and liquid industrial waste materials, in addition to putting two treatment plants up for bidding, reports Al-Anba daily.

In response to the parliamentary questions submitted by MP Abdullah Al-Kandari, the minister disclosed that PAI has established a solid industrial waste treatment plant in Shuaiba Industrial Area. He said the plant will produce materials that will be used in the recycling process (oil, cardboard, plastic, metal and wood).

He added the treatment plant for industrial liquid waste in Wafra will produce water for irrigation of unproductive crops which are not part of the foodstuff reserve.

He confirmed that PAI did not qualify any local or international companies specialized in the field of waste treatment because of the enforcement of the new bidding system for solid and liquid industrial waste treatment plants which was implemented for the first time.

This means that bidding for these two types of treatment plants is merged into one. He added this entails that the winning company bears all expenses for environmental and engineering studies, construction projects, civil, mechanical and electrical works for the two plants; in addition to paying rent in favor of PAI which will not bear any expense.

He pointed out that since the current contracts will expire soon, there is no time to qualify companies specialized in the field of waste treatment; considering the tender includes management, operation, upgrading, maintenance and exploitation.
