Pahw To Cancel The Housing Applications Of Male Kuwaitis Who Got Divorced, Have No Kids
The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) issued an internal memo to cancel the housing applications of male citizens who got divorced after submitting their applications provided they have no children, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources explained the authority based its memo on Article Eight of the housing care regulations that allows cancellation of the application in case of the wife’s death and the couple has no children, indicating the same applies to divorced men without children. Sources said 7,000 out of 93,000 housing applications are covered by the decision as per the latest statistics issued by PAHW.
Sources added those whose applications are cancelled will be included in the waiting list once they get married with a new application based on the marriage date. It is worth mentioning that cancellation of the housing applications of divorced men who have no children was one of the points in the grilling motion against former Minister of Housing Adel Al-Subaih who presented a vision on solving the housing issue.
