Paha Refutes Rumor About Losing Most Of Its Lawsuits As ‘baseless’
The rumor that the Public Authority for Handicapped Affairs (PAHA) lost in most of its lawsuits is baseless; as the rulings in 1,183 out of 1,549 cases were in favor of the authority while 366 were against it, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources. Sources confirmed the authority recovered about KD272,000 in fiscals 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, indicating this amount was disbursed to the disabled unlawfully. Sources disclosed the amount was recovered either by requiring those who obtained funds illegally to pay the full amount at once or through monthly installments.
Sources said the authority’s Legal Affairs Department coordinated with the Fatwa and Legislation Department to file lawsuits against the concerned persons to oblige them to return the funds disbursed unlawfully. Sources added the courts ruled in favor of the authority in some of these cases, while other cases are still in the courts.
Meanwhile, the procedures for employing 167 psychosocial researchers in the Ministry of Education, who have successfully passed the interviews since July, have been suspended, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a source from the educational sector.
According to the source, the Administrative Sector is waiting for approval from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to allocate the necessary job grades to pave way for the appointment of these psychosocial researchers along with the new teachers. The source told the daily that most of the researchers who passed the interviews are Kuwaitis and Gulf nationals who are familiar with the local scene; especially the problems of the society in general, and the Kuwaiti family in particular.
The source added that the current number of Kuwaiti researchers is 86 – 39 social researchers and 47 psychological researchers; while the children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis, Gulf nationals and Bedouns totaled 81 – 41 sociological researchers and 40 psychological researchers.
