Paaafr To Reduce Fishing Licenses

Deputy Director General of Fish Resources at Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Eng Marzouq Al-Azmi has affirmed the authority’s intention to reduce the number of fishing licenses to less than 450 in order to revitalize and increase fish stock, reports Aljarida daily

He disclosed that the authority is in the process of allocating lands for fish farming, particularly of shrimps, zubaidi, and shoom among others, in preparation for their operation in the next two years.

Al-Azmi stressed that Kuwait is the only Gulf country that did not suffer from decline in shrimp quantity, highlighting that the percentage of shrimp sufficiency is up to 50 percent. He indicated that the deterrent penalties imposed by the authority have limited violations in the last three years.
