Paaafr Is Not Responsible For Lack Of Supply Of Eggs In The Local Market

25 February 2019 Kuwait

Deputy Director-General of the Livestock Sector at the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs & Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Ali Al-Qattan said PAAAFR is not responsible for lack of supply of eggs in the local market, but that PAAAFR has been following up with all companies and farms responsible for producing and supplying chicken and eggs in the local market, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Al-Qattan told the daily that the livestock sector met the technical committee to discuss the shortage of eggs in the local market. After studying the issue, PAAAFR discovered that the country does not suffer from a shortage of egg production according to the latest statistics for fiscal 2017/2018.

He explained the companies and owners of farms producing poultry and eggs, supply eggs in large quantities to the market and PAAAFR provides them with support in accordance with the conditions and controls set by the decision on subsidies, but the basic dilemma, as explained by the technical committee in its report, is not related to the PAAAFR, but the payment of money. He pointed out PAAAFR is deducting the amount of subsidy on the quantity of eggs exported abroad, in a step to encourage companies and farms to supply their products in the local market.

In another development, Ministry of Education has disbursed allowances and bonuses to some employees even though they were seconded to work in some institutions such as Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and National Assembly, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. They affirmed that disbursement of these bonuses and allowances are not in line with the decision of Civil Service Commission to end all financial benefits that are not related to salary. The sources indicated that the ministry disbursed these bonuses last year also to employees who did not have the right to receive them.
