Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Muhammad Al- Rajhi disclosed that the government will not attend the special session slated for Monday to discuss the health regulations in light of the rising number of Covid-19 cases. In a press statement, Al-Rajhi confirmed the government has apologized for it’s inability to attend the session.
He said the Ministry of Health is busy dealing with the rising number of coronacases, especially since a number of Covid- 19 patients are confined in intensive care units (ICU). He added the government asked Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim to coordinate with the MPs who submitted the request for the special session in order to postpone it. Al-Rajhi revealed the government’s request was rejected, so the latter informed the Assembly that it will not attend the session. He affirmed that the government, particularly the Ministry of Health, has been cooperative as it is always ready to respond to the MPs’ queries while considering their comments and recommendations.
Meanwhile, MP Mubarak Al-Arow said the increasing number of corona cases entails that the Ministry of Education should submit a recommendation to hold online classes in the second semester of academic year 2021/2022. He pointed out it is impossible to implement heath regulations properly if the face-to-face classes continue in the second semeste
r. In another development, MPs Badr Al- Humaidi, Mehalhal Al-Mudaf, Hassan Jawhar, Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi and Badr Al-Mullah submitted a bill to amend Law No.12/2020 on the right of individuals to obtain information and documents.
According to the bill, a new article will be added on allowing citizens to submit a request for obtaining data or documents concerning them or their family members from public institutions. The concerned institution shall take the necessary legal measures in case a citizen who submitted such a request receives documents that do not belong to him, documents added to his file by someone else, or fake and erroneous documents. The MPs explained the bill is aimed at stopping those who link themselves with other families, taking advantage of the fact that some people have the same names. They added some individuals are doing this to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship.
