With the British Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency announcing today that it will allow the use of the anti-Coronavirus vaccine, which was developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, well-informed sources at the Ministry of Health confirmed to "Al Qabas" that the "Oxford" vaccine will arrive in the country in monthly batches, starting from February, at a rate of one million doses per month, and a total of 3 million doses, as 1.5 million people in the country are scheduled to benefit from them, stressing that obtaining official accreditation is a prerequisite before importing any vaccine from abroad.
According to the sources, officials from AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford have confirmed that the vaccine will protect 100% of the severe forms that the "Covid-19" virus takes, indicating that this vaccine will generally reduce hospital admission rates for people with the virus, which usually have high death rates, as well as Relieving pressure on health facilities and their workers.
The sources said that the ministry will work to accelerate the rate of entry of the vaccine into the country, provided that it will take place from next February, after completing all procedures related to registration and licensing for local use, indicating that the local agent for the vaccine submitted papers and documents for the vaccine about a month ago to the drug and food control sector in the ministry In preparation for starting the procedures for transporting and shipping it to the country, as soon as the green light is obtained from the ministry.
She pointed out that storing the AstraZenica vaccine will be in the regular refrigerator, at a temperature ranging between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, which facilitates the process of shipping, transport and storage, compared to other vaccines that need to be kept at very low temperatures.
