One Man Died And 26 People Injured In Fire Accident In Salwa Area

A man died and 26 others including a firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation due to a fire that broke out in a house in Salwa area. In a press statement issued by Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), the Public Relations and Media Department of KFSD explained that the Control Room of KFSD, after receiving information about a house on fire in Salwa area, dispatched firefighters to the location along with securitymen and paramedics. Upon arrival, they discovered that the house has three floors and a basement, the fire broke out on the second floor of the house and a number of people were trapped inside the house.

Firefighters rescued more than 20 people from the house after which they extinguished the fire before it spread further. However, they had faced difficulties in carrying out the operation due to a number of violations in the house such as partitioned rooms, large number of tenants and sealed windows. All of the rescued individuals are expatriates. One of the victims died and his corpse was referred to the Forensics Department. The remaining victims including the firefighters were taken to hospitals in 15 ambulances. High-ranking officials were present at the location.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
