Oil Sector To First Time Launch Drone To Monitor All Sensitive Oil Zones On Land And Sea
Oil sector for the first time will launch “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle”, an aircraft without human pilot” commonly known as drone with advanced automatic equipment to monitor all sensitive oil zones on land and sea.
The drone will conduct around the clock inspections using sensors and highly developed cameras, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting a reliable source explained that the sector has assets, mammoth installations, and pipelines extending 150km to connect northern Kuwait to the south, which necessitates a new technology to monitor the installations and also identify possible threats or risks through continuous supervision of infrastructure at the fields, refineries and Petrochemical complexes.
They reiterated the drone will not only deliver accurate data and photos to detect leakage when it occurs, it will also help identify exhausted infrastructure. Furthermore, aside from finding a strategic partner, the committee tasked to study options for Zour Petrochemical Complex is currently looking into the possibility of offering 30 to 32 percent of the project through public subscription to citizens, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources affirmed the final decision will be taken only after conducting a thorough study and after discussing options – whether to find a strategic partner or offer a certain percentage of the project for public subscription. Sources said the results of the study will be submitted to the Supreme Petroleum Council
