Oil Jobs Are Accounted For By Kuwaitis In 87.7%

Official data shows Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries employed about 21400 Kuwaitis at the end of fiscal year, representing 87.7% of the total workforce.

During the past year, 287 employees were appointed at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, including 2 expatriates, and 74 diploma holders with experience in refinery operations were appointed to work there.

With regards to creating job opportunities for Kuwaitis as well as encouraging the private sector to hire Kuwaitis, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries have 'Kuwaitized' approximately 3,949 jobs, bringing the number of Kuwaitis working with companies that have contracts with them to about 5,130 employees, which corresponds to the Kuwaitization percentage stipulated in the contracts.
