Officer Acquitted In Kidnap, Beating, Stabbing Of Expat
The Court of Appeals acquitted an individual who was accused of impersonating a military officer, kidnapping an Asian expatriate, beating and stabbing him, robbing him, and dumping him in an open yard. According to the case file, the plaintiff testified that the accused, who was wearing the navy uniform, stopped him and asked him for his driving license and the vehicle’s logbook.
When he asked the officer about the reason, the latter turned violent, took his car keys, hit his head with a pistol butt, and dragged him by force into his car, claiming to take him to the police station. The defendant took him to Abdallah Al-Mubarak area instead, stopped in front of an open area and asked him to hand over his wallet. When he refused, he bit him on the hand in which he was hiding the money, took what was in his possession, and asked him for his mobile phone. When he refused again, the accused stabbed him several times on his left thigh. He threw the defendant’s phone in the dirt area, and while he was looking for the phone, the victim managed to flee.
During the court session, the defense counsel of the accused Lawyer Abdullah Al-Alanda insisted that the material element of the kidnapping crime was absent. He stressed that the accusation was fabricated to contradict the statements of the victim and the medical reports, adding that there were no witnesses to the incident.
