Noose Tightened On Human Peddling Firms
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has decided to do away with ‘labeling’ offending companies and firms trafficking in humans, with vague code numbers that conceals the types of violations and crimes committed by these companies and provides them with a kind of legal cover to continue committing the crimes.
PAM sources told Al-Seyassah daily the authority is in the process of getting rid of the symbols which are placed on the suspended companies, whose number currently exceeds 10,000, and replacing the code with clear and explicit mention of the violations committed by these companies that led to the suspension of their files.
The complaints are many such as violating the rights of the workers, failure to pay salaries, the company existing on paper only and many other violations including trading in visas.
The sources said the coming days will see firm decisions being taken at the beginning of next year regarding employment issues, most notably with regard to suspended files, and a deadline will be given to the business owner whose company file is suspended to check with PAM, to rectify the company’s situation and if he does not respond, all workers registered in the company will be deported immediately without any warning.
The sources added, some employers do not care if his file is suspended as long as the company runs or rather does business, but this situation will change completely during the coming period, and the employee will be permanently deported after the deadline granted to the employer to visit PAM ends.
The sources indicated a mechanism of cooperation has been established between the authority and the Ministry of Interior which spells tougher penalties for the owners of violating companies and non-compliance with regulatory decisions.
