No.of Domestic Workers In Kuwait Including Servants And Drivers Has Reached 700,000
Professor of Administration and Finance at Kuwait University Dr Yousef Al-Mutairi revealed that the number of domestic workers in Kuwait including servants and drivers has reached 700,000, indicating that this number is expected to reach one million in the near future.
Dr Al-Mutairi said this category of people constitutes approximately one-third of the population of Kuwait. He stressed the importance of imposing strict adjustments for bringing expatriates, taking into consideration the technical and scientific rules.
;Dr Al-Mutairi affirmed that Kuwait is still in need of expatriates especially for some highly technical jobs for which sufficient number of qualified citizens are unavailable. He recommended limiting the extravagant use of marginal labors. Meanwhile, Director of Safety and Security Department at Kuwait University Khalid Al- Yaqout confirmed that the necessary measures have been taken to guarantee the safety and security of teachers, employees and students as part of preparations for the new academic year – 2017/2018.
He disclosed the procedures and relevant instructions were discussed in the recent meeting with department supervisors, paramedics and firefighters. He explained the supervisors will cover different areas in the university, stressing there will be special care for the disabled such as facilitating procedures for them to park their cars in areas closest to their destination.
He said the department has asked the Ministry of Interior to assign traffic patrols on roads leading to the university to ease traffic movement. He added the Follow Up Unit at the department will issue permits for students to park their cars inside the campus. He went on to say the evacuation program was designed in such a way that it includes practical training for employees and others.
