No Sign Of A Breakthrough For Resumption Of Flights
Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan said there has been no sign of a breakthrough regarding the resumption of flights from some countries, including those exporting domestic workers like India, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Al-Dakhnan pointed out the issuance of visa and recruitment procedures have yet to resume in view of the above. He told the daily that the union sent several letters to the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and the ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs on resuming the issuance of visas, but it has not received any official response until now.
He stressed the need to resume the issuance of visas for domestic workers, especially since the domestic labor market is suffering from manpower shortage due to the decision to stop the recruitment of new workers about seven months ago, reports Al-Jarida daily. He said the employment contracts of most of the workers who are currently in Kuwait have expired and they want to return to their countries.
