‘no Side Effects, Deaths From Vaccine’
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has reiterated that no unexpected side effects or any death related to Covid-19 vaccinations have either been recorded or monitored among all people who have received the Covid-19 vaccination by registering on the ministry’s platforms. A member of the Supreme Committee for Vaccines in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Khaled Al- Saeed, in a statement said Covid-19 vaccinations currently available in the country have not shown any side effects irrespective whether the recipient was earlier infected with the virus or not and had not shown any symptoms at that time.
Al-Saeed added that there are no scientific or global recommendations yet to take a swab from the person before taking the Covid-19 dose. He indicated the vaccinations protect against infection by a large percentage, and that the protection or immunity resulting from it increases gradually after a period of no less than 10 to 14 days after receiving the vaccination.
He said the recommendations of the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the MoH in Kuwait have not initiated any changes with regard to giving a ‘Covid’ vaccine to pregnant or breastfeeding women until today.
In the meantime, Director of Hawalli Health District, Dr. Nadia Jumaa, announced more than 2,000 Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital staff have received the vaccination against Covid -19. Dr Juma’a said in a press statement in recent weeks the number of Covid-19 patients have seen an increase at the hospital three fold compared to the months of November and December 2020.
The number of cases saw an increase since mid- January 2021. The Medical Center observers said in October, November and December 2020 on an average 50 patients were admitted to the hospital but the numbers have doubled since mid-January and recently the figures have shot to between 80 and 100 on a daily basis of people visiting the emergency department.
