While the issues of Kharafi National workers where they are not paid for several months are still not find a lasting solution, 500s of workers from Mushrif Trading & contracting company visited Indian Embassy yesterday to share their grievances.

According to informed sources, around 2750 Indian workers working for this firm are not been paid their monthly salaries for nearly two months and have been living under desolate conditions in their camp.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain brought this to the notice of the respected Minister of Social Affairs and Labour HE Hind Subaih Barrak Al Subaih. In his letter sent to the minister, Ambassador Sunil Jain requested minister to intervene in the issue so that the workers can be ensured of proper supply of food and other basic amenities. Ambassador also requested the minister for the early payment of their outstanding salaries.

"We had spoken to the officials and requested them to sort out the issues at the earliest",Ambassador also send similar letter to the Acting Director General of Public Authority for Manpower, State of Kuwait.

Earlier in the Mid-February, Ambassador held a meeting with the Minister of Social Affairs to settle the salary issue of the Indian workers at Kharafi National where more than 3000 of the Indian workers are not paid for several months. After the Minister’s intervention, more than 800 Indian workers working for MEW project under Kharafi are now getting their salary directly from the MEW.

With the intervention of the Embassy, workers are hoping that the Ministry will find a solution to their plight. What the workers wanted was the salaries owed to them for their months of sweat and hard labor, and the right to return home safely.
