Director of the Family Counseling Department at the Ministry of Justice Eman Al-Saleh says, “By referring to the divorce rates in 2020 and comparing them to the rates of the previous years, it became clear to us that they are close and there is no tangible increase in the divorce rates”, reports Aljarida daily.

In an interview with the daily, Al-Saleh said, “There were some positive aspects in the COVID-19 crisis and the circumstances that accompanied the partial or total lockdown for some families in terms of providing a greater opportunity for family members to bond, increase communication among them, and strengthen their relations.”

She indicated that the department is seeking to open new vision centers for the Ministry of Justice in some governorates in order to relieve the pressure faced in the two current centers, and on families who have files in these centers.

Al-Saleh revealed that there is coordination with the General Secretariat of Awqaf to resume its support for these vision centers, stressing that a new center is expected to be established in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, and other centers will be gradually established in the rest of the governorates.

She stated that the number of telephone or text consultations received by the concerned team reached 2,971 during the period from April 5 to October 22.
