No Filipino Worker Claimed They Were Forced To Work, Says Embassy
The Philippine ambassador to Kuwait, Muhammad Nur al-Din Lomondot affirmed that the embassy had not received any complaint from any Filipino worker, about being detained by their sponsors and forced to work against their will, Al Rai daily report. He made clear that the embassy is always open to receive any case.
In a special statement to Al-Rai, Lomondot said that most of the violating workers returned to their country during the past months, and benefited from the Kuwait amnesty period for them. He also indicated that the number of female workers fleeing the homes of their sponsors has greatly decreased, compared to previous years.
He pointed out that extending the residency for a domestic worker without her consent is contrary to the terms of the contract concluded between the domestic worker and her sponsor, indicating that the embassy has not received any complaints in this regard.
