New Procedures For Using Drones

The General Administration of Civil Aviation is coordinating with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to set the mechanism of requirements for licensing wireless, remote-controlled drone aircraft and paragliding, as a responsible source for Al-Qabas revealed new procedures that are currently being arranged to prevent the state of chaos that most areas witness in threatening uses Spirits of people who go to the roads.

The source said that the new procedures will take place after examining the experiences of European countries, as well as some Gulf countries, in how to control the process of practicing these dangerous hobbies that have become remarkably widespread.

The source indicated that granting licenses according to the initial agreement will be subject to several considerations, unlike the previous one, including obtaining the approval of the civil aviation and the ministries of interior and defense before embarking on the practice of the hobby, so that the requests will include identification of the plane, determining its heights and the “Serail number”, and that civil aviation will determine the locations Specific to the practice of hobby as well as determining the altitudes allowed to fly in it without affecting air navigation.

He indicated that drones will be prohibited from being used in residential, commercial and agricultural areas, and specific sites will be identified for them to practice this hobby, and in the event that photography is requested in residential, commercial, clubs and other areas, a request is made to civil aviation to obtain approval before use.

On government uses for drones, the source said that any government agency that has uses in this regard can submit an application specifying the location and names of the people using the aircraft, and then their request is approved.

He indicated that the General Administration of Civil Aviation will soon announce an automatic system in which all the requirements are met for amateurs of wireless and drone aircraft, as well as paragliding, in a manner that preserves all rights, explaining that whoever violates these requirements will be subject to the provisions of laws that threaten human lives. 

Do not go near restricted sites!

The source warned paragliding users and amateurs against approaching some prohibited sites, especially since their flying at certain altitudes may expose them to danger, calling for the necessity to allocate a paragliding club with specifying specific lands for these uses. He said that some paragliders do not have safety and security requirements while flying, which may expose them to danger, in addition to their lack of knowledge of the prohibited sites and others.

The source revealed that the stipulation mechanism in regulating the hobby of drones and paragliding depends on several criteria, namely: 1- Emphasis on air safety. 2- Establishing a regulatory mechanism for issuing licenses. 3- Follow the global systems for issuing licenses. 4- Determining specific sites to practice the hobby. 5- Preventing the use of aircraft in residential, commercial, agricultural and other areas.
