New Gas Station Spikes Output By 250 Mln Cubic Feet - Minister

05 February 2018 Kuwait

A new Kuwait Oil Company (KOC)-launched gas station will boost production by 250 million cubic feet and churn out around 68,000 barrels of gas condensate, said Kuwait's Minister of Oil Bkheet Al-Rashidi Sunday.

The new station is of paramount importance given the country's need of booming gas and oil outputs, Al-Rashidi, who doubles as Minister of Electricity and Water, told KUNA on the sidelines of a ceremony to get the apparatus up and running.

"Kuwait currently produces around a billion and a half cubic feet of gas per day, and our goal is to push that figure higher to four billion cubic feet per day," the minister pointed out. He noted that oil production sits at around 2.7 million barrels, "while we have the capacity to produce more than three million barrels."

Meanwhile, "the country is aiming for an oil output of 4.750 million barrels by the year 2040," Al-Rashidi said. The minister cited the oil sector's plans to have an all-national workforce soon, saying the new gas station was 100 percent Kuwaiti made. He also spoke of "ongoing negotiations" with Iraq over Kuwait's plans to import gas from its Gulf neighbor.
