Municipality Terminates The Services Of 142 Expatriates
About 132 ex-pats employed by the Kuwait Municipality in a variety of departments will have their employment terminated, according to a decision made by the director-general, Eng Ahmed Al-Manfouhi.
According to an informed source who spoke to a local Arabic daily, the Civil Service Commission's policy of Kuwaitization, the replacement of foreign workers with citizens, and the decision of Minister of Municipality Dr. Rana Al-Faris, who has created a 3-phase time plan for Kuwaitization of jobs in the municipality, all govern the termination of the services of these employees.
The first stage starts with the termination of contracts for 33% of non-Kuwaitis who were given a notice period as of September 1. The second stage ends the services of 33% on February 1, 2023, with the proviso that the remaining employees will be given a notice period beginning on July 1, 2023. Al-Manfouhi, on the other hand, decided to rotate the leadership of the municipal departments in charge of public cleanliness, road maintenance, and safety. In other news, the daily has learned that Al-Manfouhi has fired the legal department's 4 foreign consultants, 4 legal researchers, and 2 senior specialists.
