Mpw Spends Only 45% Of Its Budgets On Projects As End Of Fiscal Year Ends

The Ministry of Public Works, with just two months remaining got the end of the current fiscal year, said the percentage of spending on projects until the end of last December was 791 million dinars or just 45% of the total budget given for projects.

The sources told Al-Qabas the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Ali Al-Mousa has shown great interest since assuming the portfolio to follow up the current budget data.

The sources said the minister has stressed on the need to remedy the delay percentage in works that has affected some projects due to the Corona pandemic impact and the difficulty of recruiting manpower during the past two years.

The sources pointed out that Al-Mousa held a meeting last weekend with officials of the maintenance and engineering sector to follow up the obstacles facing internal road maintenance in the country, most notably providing the necessary budget for some contracts to complete the necessary works in a number of regions of the country.

The sources indicated the meeting focused on the causes of the recent flooding in some internal areas, and the need to avoid these incidents in future, especially of particular interest was the rain network across the country which falls under the responsibility of the maintenance sector.
