Mps Query Kuwait Investments, Preservation Of Heritage
MP Eissa Al-Kandari has submitted queries to Finance Minister Nayef Al-Hajraf regarding Kuwaiti investments in and outside the country. He said oil is the main source of national income at this point but it is not permanent.
Once the era of oil production ends, the country must rely on other sources such as returns from its investments and since this field is subject to turbulences; the MP wants to know the fields where the country has invested, rate and stability of returns and overall percentage of investments.
On the other hand, Al-Kandari also submitted queries to Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammed Al-Jabri on the Kuwaiti heritage and steps being taken to preserve this heritage.
He said every country is proud of its heritage and its preservation is important; hence, Article 12 of the Constitution stipulates that the State shall maintain the Islamic and Arab heritage and shall share in the path of civilization and humanitarianism.
Furthermore, MP Majed Al-Mutairi submitted queries to Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah about plans to protect public utilities against natural disasters and current protocol which ensures the implementation of civil defense measures.
MP Mohammed Al-Dalaal submitted queries to Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipality Affairs regarding the loose gravel on Kuwaiti roads and highways. He pointed out this problem recurs every year following the rainy season, causing costly damages to vehicles of citizens and expatriates without compensation.
Despite the formation of several technical and investigative committees, the problem remains unsolved, so he requested for the records of said committees. He asserted this is the result of the weak infrastructure and failure to develop the road pavement mix design, pointing out the ministry’s technical and science divisions up to this day is still unable to use the high performing asphalt pavement mix ‘Superpave.’
On the contractors, Al-Dallaal believes there is no actual supervision over their work; hence, the MPs requested for details of companies with contracts in the past three years along with all correspondents.
