Mps Hit International Community
Many MPs have condemned the Israelis for breaking into the Al Aqsa mosque and attacking Palestinians residing in Jerusalem. MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari criticized the attitude of the international community which blames Islam due to the isolated crimes committed by a Muslim or an Arab, yet it turns a deaf ear and blind eye to the systematic war and crimes against humanity committed by the Zionist entity targeting the Palestinians. He also condemned the official Arab response — pushing the train to speed up normalizing relations with Israel.
Other MPs including Musaed Al-Ardi and Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi criticized the statement of Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as it violated the decree issued in 1967 stating that Kuwait is in a defensive war with Israel and referring to the latter as a ‘Zionist entity’. He pointed out the ministry’s statement is totally different from the stipulation of the decree. These MPs voiced objection as well to the term ‘East Jerusalem’, stressing that Jerusalem is an undivided city. They rejected the use of the term ‘settlements’ for the areas constructed by Israel, asserting these areas should be called ‘colonies’. MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji said the Zionist colonization of Palestinians in Jerusalem is a shameful mark on the forehead of the international community which has not taken any action so far. He urged the government to coordinate with other countries in launching a diplomatic campaign to support the Palestinians and stop the attempts of the Zionist entity to push for the ‘Judaization’ of Jerusalem.
Based on the position of Kuwait to reject attempts to normalize relations with Israel, MP Mehalhal Al-Mudaf forwarded queries to Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Sabah as he obtained information that the medical attaché for Kuwaiti students in London intends to sign a contract with French health insurance company AXA that invested in Israeli banks and financed illegal activities such as establishing colonies on land stolen from the Palestinian people. He asked if any of the Kuwaiti health offices abroad signed contracts with the abovementioned company. If yes, he wants to know the rationale behind signing a contract with the company.
In another development, MP Hesham Al-Saleh submitted a bill on granting Kuwaiti nationality to Bedouns included in the 1965 census, as well as about 1,000 to 3,000 Bedouns who are highly qualified and have vast experience in various fields. Meanwhile, MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa asked Minister of Oil and Higher Education Muhammad Abdullatif Al- Fares about the plan of the ministry to transfer certain facilities and buildings from Kuwait University to Abdullah Al-Salem University as per Law No. 76/ 2019. He wants to know if a committee was formed to carry out this task. If yes, he requested for a copy of the decision in this regard.
