Mp Warns About Grilling If Mof Doesn’t Settle Interests On Loans
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim said the conclusive solution to the Bedoun issue is now in its final stage and the bill will be submitted to the Assembly at the beginning of the next legislative term for deliberation, hoping the bill will receive majority vote.
The Speaker disclosed that he met several concerned government officials who presented their inputs and concerns which will be taken into consideration while drafting the law. Present at the meeting were State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, Minister of Justice and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Fahad Al-Afasi, Chairperson of the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) Saleh Al-Fadala, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah, Secretary General of the Cabinet Abdulatif Al-Roudan and Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)-Kuwait office Dr Samer Hadadeen.
Al-Ghanim added another meeting will be held soon with representatives of charity organizations and public benefit associations, as well as several activists in this area, who will present their concerns and points of view as the issue necessitates the inputs of everyone involved to ensure a comprehensive and definitive solution. He reiterated that the issue requires the cooperation of everyone; affirming the solution will be based on the main pillars of just resolution, protection of national identity and assurance of humanitarian aspects.
Support
Commenting on the issue, MP Mohammed Hayef affirmed support for any initiative deemed beneficial to Bedouns, but it must be “balanced”. He will announce his final opinion on the bill upon submission.
On the other hand, Hayef warned that an interpellation motion will be underway if the minister of finance does not settle interests on loans granted to retirees as he considers it a violation of the Islamic Sharia. He noted the promise to amend the law has yet to be fulfilled, indicating other MPs are prepared to sign the motion if the amendment is not submitted within five weeks as promised.
In another development, prompted by recent news about exhibitions being free of scams, money laundering and other illegal activities due to the strict enforcement of laws and regulations by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, MP Shu’aib Al-Muwaizri submitted queries to Minister Khaled Al-Roudan on the measures taken against real estate companies proven to be guilty of scamming investors and media companies which promoted such investments.
Furthermore, MP Mubarak Al-Hurais submitted a proposal to include Salwa, Rumaithiya, Bayan and Mishref to the areas covered by the newly established Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Hospital. He explained this bill aims to reduce pressure on Mubarak Al- Kabeer Hospital which is currently overcrowded Additionally, MP Riyadh Al- Adsani told the media that while reviewing the State budget documents; he found out the budget for military reinforcement submitted by the government, although acceptable, is incomplete.
