08 November 2020 Crime News

The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Abdullah Al-Othman, decided to release MP Salah Khourshid on bail of KD 10,000, and it summoned the former undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Suleiman Al-Fahad, reports Aljarida daily.

The court also refused to release the defendants in the case of the Bangladeshi MP including the Assistant Undersecretary for Training Affairs at Ministry of Interior Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, an official from the Public Authority for Manpower, and a parliamentary candidate from the Fourth Constituency.

The court set the session of November 12 to listen to the witnesses’ statement

Last week’s court session witnessed MP Khourshid’s confrontation with the prosecution on the accusations leveled against him of accepting bribes from the Bangladeshi MP – charges that he has denied.

His counsel Lawyer Adel Qurban had presented documents proving the suspicion that his client was infected with COVID-19, which prevented him from attending the previous session.

The court presented the case file to the defense team which had demanded a copy of it. Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah’s defense team demanded that the former undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Suleiman al-Fahad be summoned, as he was the one who asked him to sign the contract with the company owned by the Bangladeshi, but Sheikh Mazen did not sign it.
