Mp Requests Government To Shorten Working Hours Due To Hot Weather
MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei has urged the government to shorten the work period by two hours during summer due to the hot weather and to lessen pressure on the electricity network, reports Annahar daily. He also stressed the need to rescind the government’s decision to increase work hours.
Furthermore, in response to the query of MP Osama Al-Shahid on the postal service, State Minister for Services Affairs Jenan Bushahri issued a decision to form a fact-finding committee to hand over the unclaimed parcels to the Customs Department, reports Annahar daily.
The committee must submit its report within one month after its formation. In another development, finance Ministry Undersecretary Khalifa Hamada, who submitted his resignation recently, has revealed that about 5,000 governmental employees submitted their resignation after the implementation of the compulsory fingerprint attendance system in governmental bodies last year, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Hamada said the number of employees reached 3,500 when he joined the ministry although the volume of work did not increase by more than 10 percent over the years. In its report on the increase of governmental employees in the GCC, Bloomberg pointed out that many graduates have rejected job offers in the private sector as they prefer to work in the public sector which grants higher salary, shorter working hours, longer vacation leaves, allowances and incentives.
The report said Kuwait is one of the most democratic countries in the region and the best place to start the application of a system on distribution of wealth among citizens, away from governmental jobs.
