Mp Questions About Bogus Contracts Involving Officials At The Oil Sector
MP Yousef Al-Fadala intends to intensify his supervisory efforts to address what he described as bogus contracts involving officials at the oil sector.
He will start by submitting queries to Oil Minister Khaled Al-Fadel on the formation of investigative committees in Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and results of investigations. He explained the reasons behind these investigations made him suspect irregularities in the contracts.
After the initial revision of investigation results, he requested for a detailed report because he wondered why only one official was suspected of involvement in bogus contracts and this official was merely suspended from work without any further action. The case of bogus contracts executed by some officials at the oil sector was opened towards the end of January 2018 and during the tenure of former Oil Minister Bakheet Al-Rashidi.
Several investigative committees were formed, including those at KNPC and KPC which recently completed their tasks but the results were unsatisfactory as the suspected official was not held accountable. The MP obtained additional information that more individuals are involved, including a foreigner who has been absent since the case started. He is waiting for the officials’ responses before taking a decision on how to move forward with this issue.
In another development, Deputy Parliament Speaker MP Eissa Al-Kandari submitted a proposal to publish an encyclopedia of current legislative decrees and laws. He clarified that the recent ratification of several laws and amendments made it difficult to keep track of existing legislation, especially for those concerned and the public in general due to the absence of necessary channels to obtain such information. He added it is more difficult since some laws have been stagnant, completely detached from time and development of the country as such could lead to mistakes in legislative work considering the absence of a main reference for current laws and legislative decrees.
