Mp Queries Over False Info In Citizenship Applications
MP Badr Al-Humaidi has forwarded queries to Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah about the citizenship applications, in which the information provided were found to be false since 2000 till date. He wants to know the number and nationalities of those who were granted Kuwaiti citizenship before the discovery of the false information, number of those whose citizenship was withdrawn for providing false information, and measures taken against those involved in such forgery. He requested for copies of the fake documents, list of officials who approved these documents, recommendations of the fact-finding committee tasked to investigate the issue, and statistics showing all those who have been granted citizenship since 2000 till date including those who were naturalized for the outstanding service they rendered for Kuwait

MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji forwarded queries to Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Khalifa Hamada as well as Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Social Affairs and Societal Development Meshaan Al-Otaibi. He asked Hamada if any of the officials at the investment bodies are related to an incumbent senior official at Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) or its subsidiaries like Kuwait Investment Office. He asked Al-Otaibi if the Ministry of Social Affairs signed any contracts allowing the contracting companies to have full control over data management in the country or abroad, way to guarantee the confidentiality of information, if such confidentiality has been breached or not, and if contracting companies are obligated to hand over files once the contracts expire or are terminated.
Meanwhile, MP Marzouq Al- Khalifa has confirmed receiving the reply of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Nazaha Enhancement Abdullah Al-Rumi to his queries regarding drugs. According to the minister, the number of drug related cases from Aug 2, 2011 till date totaled 18,918 – 5,053 of theses cases ended in acquittal; while 13,865 led to convictions. The number of drug trading cases reached 7,525 and 1,451 of which led to acquittal while 6,074 resulted in convictions. On the other hand, MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri submitted a proposal to form a committee that will be tasked to review procedures, administrative and financial decisions, minutes and complaints against the National Assembly and its Secretariat General during the 13th parliamentary term (2013/2016), as well as the first and second rounds of the 14th term. He called for public voting on the formation of such committee.Â
