Mp Presented A Proposal For Taxi Companies To Prioritize Bedouns In Hiring Drivers
MP Ahmed Nabil Al-Fadel presented a proposal for taxi companies to prioritize Bedouns in hiring drivers. He called on the Interior Ministry to facilitate the issuance of driving licenses to Bedouns in order to stop exploitation of these people just because of difficulties in obtaining a license.
In the same vein, MP Khalid Al-Shatti expressed deep regret for Bedouns’ suffering which has been going on for decades. He stressed the need to address the issue quickly. He pointed out that Bedouns have been in a difficult situation for a long time, urging the government to take the necessary action to grant citizenship to deserving Bedouns.
He voiced objection to what he considers continuous abuse of Bedouns who deserve citizenship, especially those included in the 1965 Census. On the other hand, Al- Shatti called for naturalization of children born to Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis, explaining the Constitution does not discriminate between men and women in terms of their rights. He said the executive and legislative authorities have agreed on granting citizenship to this category.
