Mp Has Forwarded Questions On The Increasing Prices Of Medicines

19 October 2017 Kuwait

MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei has forwarded questions to Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harbi on the increasing prices of medicines.

In the introductory part of his queries, Al-Tabtabaei said citizens and expatriates have been complaining about the rising prices of medicines — five times more than the prices in other Arab and GCC countries; especially the medicines for chronic disease.

He requested for details about licensed pharmaceutical companies, such as the licensed medicines for each company and which of these companies are authorized to participate in direct purchase and tenders. He wants to know reasons behind the high prices of medicines, mechanism in determining prices of medicines, studies comparing prices of medicines in Arab and Gulf countries if any, and other relevant information.

Furthermore, MP Abdullah Al-Roumi submitted questions to State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah about the reports of the State Audit Bureau (SAB). He asked if the Council of Ministers discussed the reports, if the council appointed an entity to study the reports, if this entity updates the council on the progress of its work, if the council follows the suggestions of the entity and decisions taken concerning these reports.

On another issue, 10 MPs have submitted an urgent request to discuss the report of the parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee on determining the number of people who will be granted citizenship in 2017 in the first session of the National Assembly in the next legislative round.
