Mp Faults ‘diplomatic Slip’ Over The Bedoun Who Committed Suicide Recently
MP Ahmed Al-Fadel has denounced the presence of a delegation from the US Embassy at the funeral reception for the Bedoun who committed suicide recently.
Addressing the US ambassador to Kuwait, the MP described the situation as a “diplomatic slip.” He was quick to add though that he has no intention to escalate the matter, taking into consideration the friendly relations between the two countries.
The MP asked the ambassador how he would feel if his Kuwaiti counterpart visits undocumented Mexicans or the families of those who committed suicide.
On the other hand, MP Saleh Ashour blamed the Ministry of Interior for the death of the young Bedoun, as it is the main body in charge of this issue and it has the power to grant Bedouns their humanitarian rights in accordance with international agreements and charters. He added the ministry has neglected the issue for more than half a century and it has become an embarrassment for the country, which paves way for the intervention of concerned foreign entities. “This incident should serve as a warning,” asserted the MP as he believes that the situation will get worse if nothing is done.
In another development, MP Bader Al-Mulla disclosed that he has completed a proposal on the financial integrity of MPs and ministers. Once implemented, the proposal will prohibit MPs and ministers from engaging in any other type of employment, stocks or company shares.
The proposal also stipulates fines and cancellation of membership if articles are violated, the MP explained while indicating that he intends to submit the proposal at the beginning of the next legislative round. In addition, the MP affirmed that he will follow up the performance of the minister of finance in relation to the issues raised during the latter’s interpellation. He said the summer vacation is more than enough for the minister to address all these issues and present solutions.
Meanwhile, MP Ahmed Al-Fadel has submitted a proposal to build curbed tracks for cyclists in order to protect them from traffic accidents.
