Mp Abdul-kareem Al-kandari Decided To Suspend His Interpellation Of Premier
MP Abdul-Kareem Al-Kandari decided to suspend his interpellation of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s efforts to hold the Gulf Summit and the premier’s announcement of his plan to form the government next week.
He hopes His Highness the Amir will achieve reconciliation during the summit in order to end the Gulf crisis. He added some MPs have requested for a special session on national reconciliation in view of the ruling of the Court of Appeals on the National Assembly building storming case. Asked why he abstained from voting on the new sports law, Al-Kandari explained this is due to the constitutionality of holding the special session.
He said, “Some are fishing in turbid waters, claiming that we are embarrassing the political leadership by going against their directives but this is not true. We look forward to lifting the suspension of Kuwait’s participation in international sports events soon and we appreciate all efforts exerted to reach this end.” Commenting on the same issue, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani urged the government to use Article 103 of the Constitution as reference once the new sports law is adopted, especially since the government already resigned and it is just handling urgent matters. He said the government must submit the law to HH the Amir for approval.
In another development, MP Thamer Al-Suwait disclosed that he visited Tuesday some of his colleagues serving time at the Central Prison for storming the legislative building. He described them as patriotic men subjected to very harsh sentences for voicing their views against corruption. Also, MP Abdullah Fahad said, “Today, we are honored to meet with respectable Kuwaitis and fellow MPs sentenced to prison for storming the legislative building. We saw them in high spirits.” Fahad pointed out that prison is not the place for MPs loved by citizens, as this is the place for thieves and those who squander public money. He believes these MPs will be released soon because they are the best in society
