Money Transfers By Expats Increased By 8.5% During The First Nine Months Of 2021

16 February 2022 Kuwait

According to preliminary figures from Kuwait's Central Bank for the first nine months of 2021, remittances from expatriates in Kuwait increased by 8.5 percent over the same period in 2020.

Expat remittances totaled 1.36 billion dinars in the first quarter of 2021, 1.39 billion dinars in the second quarter, and about 1.36 billion dinars in the third quarter of last year, bringing total remittances of workers in Kuwait to about 4.12 billion dinars in the first nine months of 2021, an increase of 8.5 percent over the same period in 2020.

The increase in expatriate remittances during this period is owing to the closures that Kuwait experienced at this time last year, as well as expatriates' non-travel to their home countries over the summer and holidays.
