Moi Said About 100 Cases Have Been Filed Against Newspapers

29 January 2017 Kuwait

Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud said about 100 cases have been filed against newspapers since August 2013, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In response to the query of MP Rakan Al-Nisf, Sheikh Salman explained the Ministry of Information did not file cases against daily newspapers based on the request of its Foreign Affairs counterpart or any of the embassies in Kuwait, as the ministry is responsible for implementing provisions of the law without any request from any other party. He pointed out the ministry informed the Public Prosecution about publications that violated Chapter Three of law number 3/2006.

He disclosed 106 license registration applications for electronic newspapers were submitted to the ministry and none of them has been rejected. In fact, 73 applications are now in the phase of completing documentation, he added. Below are the newspapers with cases referred to the Public Prosecution
