Moi Has Cancelled The Special Health Insurance Fees For Dependents

01 February 2019 Kuwait

Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Residence Affairs Major-General Talal Marafie has cancelled the special health insurance fees for dependents – the fees which were introduced in 2017, reports Al-Anba daily.

In 2017, expatriates had the right to sponsor parents, mothersin- law, and brothers and sisters under Article 22 provided they acquired the medical insurance of up to 3,000 dinars from insurance companies for medical treatment in private hospitals.

The expatriate also had to pay fees between 160 and 250 dinars annually during renewal or acquiring new residence for parents and mothers-in-law.
Under the new circular issued by the Director of General Department of Residency Affairs Brigadier Abdul Qadir the children can now sponsor only their parents, in-laws and siblings.

The circular states that health insurance now is KD 50 each and 200 dinars must be paid at the residence department.

This means insurance of 3,000 dinars from private insurance companies is not required.

A knowledgeable source said the decision of the Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry for the residence affairs gives the expatriates who have paid money to private insurance companies during the past two years the right to file lawsuits to recover their monies.
