Moh Launches Drive To Slash Hiv - Aids Cases By 50percent – 414 Kuwaitis Tested Positive

Ministry of Health has announced a total of 414 Kuwaitis who have tested positive or are carriers of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) lead a normal life and enjoy good health, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

However, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs at the Ministry and head of the permanent National Committee for Combating AIDS, Dr Majida Al Qattan disclosed more than 50 newborn babies born to these parents have tested negative.

She announced the opening of voluntary test clinics soon to protect people’s privacy and enable them to obtain instant lab test results.

Dr Al-Qattan during the inauguration of the National Committee for Permanent AIDS Awareness Campaign under the title ‘Start a New Life … AIDS can be Healed’, emphasized that the Ministry of Health laboratories conduct more than one million HIV tests annually.

The Ministry has launched a national campaign to slash the rate of new HIV/AIDS cases by 50 per cent by the year 2021.
