Moh Finalizes Jobs For 250 Pakistani Doctors, Nurses
The Ministry of Health has completed the procedures for recruiting 250 doctors, nurses and technicians among the Pakistani medical teams specialized in intensive care and abdominal (internal) diseases to help Kuwait in its fight against the COVID-19 disease, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources. Sources told the daily that the second batch of Pakistani medical staff will arrive in November, indicating that the ministry sent them contracts stipulating their salaries and it is now waiting for their arrival to the country.
Sources confirmed the continuous coordination between ministry officials and their Pakistani counterparts to finalize all arrangements for the recruitment of the above-mentioned medical personnel. Sources said the recruitment of Pakistani medical professionals is part of the medical and technical cooperation agreement and exchange of experiences between Kuwait and Pakistan.
Sources revealed the ministry, represented by Deputy Minister Dr Mustafa Reda, signed the agreement in early July; while the Pakistani Ministry of Health was represented by the Pakistan ambassador to Kuwait. Sources said the agreement is aimed at strengthening medical ties between the two countries. Sources added the first batch of the Pakistani medical delegation, consisting of 208 doctors and nurses, arrived last week.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is preparing to take over and operate the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak Health Center during the coming period in order to start accommodating a number of Kuwaiti citizens in this modern area, which is expected to be inhabited by more than 5,000 families, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources. They said the Engineering Projects Department is preparing to take over the health center from the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) before equipping it with the latest medical equipment and supplies to ensure it starts receiving clients and patients as soon as it is officially opened.
The sources highlighted the importance of such a center in the new residential area to ensure optimal and rapid medical treatment under any emergency or critical situations, prior to referral of the cases to the general hospital. They revealed that it is planning to receive an emergency medical branch affiliated to the health center in the region, with the aim of expediting the referral of any cases that require referral to public hospitals and specialized centers in the future.
In a similar context, the sources indicated the delay in the completion of the Farwaniya Specialized Health Center project which has been halted since five years, attributing the reason to judicial disputes between the Ministry of Health and the contractor executing the project. The sources affirmed the keenness of the ministry to receive health projects according to contractual deadlines.
