‘moh Committed To Hiring Nurses As Per Labor Laws’
Commenting on the investigative report published by the daily on Jan 28 entitled, “Dismissal of Nurses Opens Wounds of the Angels of Mercy,” the Ministry of Health confirmed that the recruitment of nursing staff through contracting with some companies has decreased significantly, reports Al-Qabas daily. The ministry said it remains committed to the application of labor laws in recruiting nurses based on the mechanism for meeting the manpower needs of State agencies by contracting with qualified companies.
This mechanism has been implemented for more than a decade, but the percentage of nursing staff hired through it declined significantly as the ministry has resorted to direct local hiring or through the memoranda of understanding with various countries which provide such workers.
The ministry stressed that it fully abides by laws on the transfer of workers from companies to work directly under the ministry; while clarifying it is not in charge of terminating the contracts of several nurses. The Public Education Sector in the Ministry of Education has determined their academic manpower needs for school year 2022/2023 in preparation for the announcement of the local recruitment of non-Kuwaiti teachers in the first week of February, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources disclosed the ministry needs teachers for 11 subjects, stressing that applicants must meet the experience condition; citing as an example the applicants for female Music teacher post – three years related work experience if they are non-degree holders and two years for degree holders. Sources said the following are exempted from the work experience condition: doctorate degree holders whose general mark in their undergraduate studies is at least ‘very good’, master’s degree holders whose general mark in their undergraduate studies is not lower than ‘excellent’, and graduates of the College of Education at Kuwait University and the College of Basic Education in the Public Authority for Applied Education Training (PAAET) and all other public colleges in the country. Sources stressed the need for applicants to pass the interview and there will be exemption from this condition; indicating that priority will be given to Kuwaiti applicants, followed by children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis and the citizens of other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
