Moh Awaiting Results Of Covid-19 Vaccine Tests
Officials from the Ministry of Health have been following the latest developments in COVID-19 vaccines, the clinical trials of which are now in the final stages in more than one country, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to reliable health sources, in the event that any vaccine is officially approved, the details and dates of arrival will be announced from the producing companies, some of which are still awaiting accreditation from international health organizations specialized in vaccines.
The sources said, “The Ministry of Health conducts daily contacts with the companies with which a preliminary agreement has been concluded regarding the import of COVID-19 vaccines, in the event that they obtain official approvals. The agreements and contracts will not have legal consideration if the vaccine does not obtain official accreditation from international organizations to be granted and circulated in any country.
The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the latest developments in the vaccine, which is being developed by Oxford University with the cooperation of the company, AstraZeneca. It is in its final stages for the supply of three million doses when it is officially approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the British health authorities”.
The sources revealed that the Oxford vaccine does not need very low temperature for storage or frozen, as it can be stored at a temperature ranging between two and eight degrees Celsius, and will not require major cooling equipment.
They added that the vaccine, in its first and second testing stages, showed a strong immune response in those who underwent clinical trials, as cells begin to show an immune reaction after only 14 days of vaccination, and the body produces antibodies within 28 days.
The sources suggested that the vaccine will be approved next month in Britain, and if it is approved there, the process of arriving in Kuwait will only take 14 days at the latest.
