20 March 2018 Kuwait

Head of the Teachers Syndicate in the Ministry of Education Saleh Al-Azmi urged the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to withdraw its decision to terminate 214 social workers in public schools until the commission finds qualified replacements among Kuwaiti graduates. In his press statement, Al- Azmi described the decision as hasty and unstudied, so it will cause upheaval in the operations of schools. He explained such decisions harm the educational process considering the lack of qualified replacements to fill positions vacated by terminated foreign employees. He added education cannot be managed through unilateral decisions; hence, the need to consult all concerned educational bodies.
