Moe Stops Applications From Expat Researchers

The number of public sector job applicants on the waiting list has decreased by 50 percent as 13,622 citizens are now waiting for their appointment in various ministries and other governmental bodies, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a knowledgeable source from the Civil Service Commission (CSC). Confirming these appointees have registered in the central employment system, the source stressed that the CSC succeeded in appointing a large number of citizens on the waiting list within one year.

The source disclosed the number of appointees as of March last year reached 23,000 citizens. The source said the number of citizens who were nominated for different public sector jobs reached 10,297 women and 3,325 men. He disclosed 2,678 of these nominees are university degree holders, 726 are diploma holders, 878 are secondary certificate holders while 1,379 have intermediate certificates, 218 have primary level certificates, 124 have civil training certificates and 1,762 have no certificates. He added 274 have registered in the central employment system several years ago.

The source went on to say that one of the obstacles to the implementation of CSC’s policy is the refusal of some citizens to take the jobs offered to them.

The Ministry of Education stopped receiving applications from expatriate researchers after the Civil Service Commission (CSC) refused to appoint researchers who passed interviews and grant them functional degrees in last year’s budget, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a source from the educational sector.
